THE CZECH REPUBLIC HAS THE HIGHEST RISE IN REAL ESTATE PRICES IN THE EU

According to a Eurostat report, real estate prices jumped significantly in the third quarter of 2021 in the EU and the Eurozone. It is the biggest jump since 2005, when the EU's statistical office began collecting these data.

At the EU level, residential real estate prices rose to 9.2 percent in the third quarter of last year compared to the same period a year earlier, the report said.

When it comes to the second quarter, an increase of 7.4 percent was recorded.

Viewed in the Eurozone, prices rose 8.8 percent in the third trimester and 6.8 percent in the second.

All EU countries, except Greece, whose data were not available, recorded an increase in residential real estate prices in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period a year earlier.

They grew the most in the Czech Republic, 22 percent compared to the same period in 2020. It is followed by Lithuania and Estonia with price increases of 18.9 and 17.3 percent, respectively, and the Netherlands, where prices rose by 16.8 percent.

In the third quarter of last year, the prices of residential real estate in Croatia increased by nine percent compared to the same period in 2020. They increased 6.5 percent in the second quarter.

The lowest price increase was recorded in Cyprus, 2.2 percent, followed by Italy and Spain with a 4.2 percent increase in residential real estate prices.

It is noticed that the prices in the summer quarter in both areas increased the most since Eurostat started monitoring the data (2005) - 3.1 percent in the EU and 3.3 percent in the Eurozone.
