THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR MARKS HIGHEST GROWTH IN SLOVENIA IN OCTOBER

The construction sector across Europe continued to grow in October. Compared to September, production in this activity increased by 1.3 percent in both the Eurozone and the European Union, according to the estimate of the EU Statistics Office (Eurostat). Compared to October 2021, production in construction increased by 2.2 percent in the Eurozone and 2.4 percent in the EU.

Let's recall that in September, construction grew by 0.5 percent in the Eurozone and by 0.3 percent in the EU.

In the euro zone and in the EU, in October, compared to September, high-rise construction increased by 1.3 percent. Low-rise construction increased by one percent in the Eurozone, and by 0.1 percent in the EU.

Slovenia had the largest monthly increase in construction production (+8.5 percent). It is followed by Romania with a growth of 5.5 and Poland with five percent. The decline was recorded in Hungary (-1.8 percent), Portugal and Finland (both -0.7 percent), Sweden (-0.4 percent) and Spain (-0.3 percent).

In October, compared to October 2021, high-rise construction grew by 2.3 percent in the euro zone, and by 2.4 percent in the EU. Low-rise construction is higher by 1.9 percent in the Eurozone, and by 1.7 percent in the EU.

The highest annual growth in construction production was recorded in Slovenia (+54.6 percent), Romania (+34.4 percent) and Poland (+3.9 percent). Hungary (-20.1 percent), Spain (-9.7 percent), Belgium (-1.6 percent) and Slovakia (-0.1 percent) had a decline.

VALUE OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS IN SERBIA

According to the data of the Republic Statistical Office (RZS), which were collected in the third quarter of this year, the value of construction works in Serbia increased by 2.7 percent in current prices, while in constant prices it decreased by 13.5 percent compared to the third quarter in 2021. The value of performed works on buildings decreased by 17.7 percent, and on other buildings by 11 percent in constant prices.

Observed by region, the value of the works performed in this quarter, compared to the same period of the previous year, increased, in constant prices, only in the Region of Šumadija and Western Serbia, by 6.4 percent, while in other regions the value decreased.

Of the total value of construction works, 94.7 percent were carried out in Serbia, while the remaining 5.3 percent were carried out on construction sites abroad, writes biznis.rs.

The value of works performed by contractors from Serbia in the third quarter of 2022 increased by 4.8 percent compared to the third quarter of 2021 in current prices, while in constant prices it decreased by 11.7 percent.

In October, 2,989 building permits were issued, which is less than in the same month last year (3,843).
