In addition to Belgrade and Novi Sad, Russian citizens are increasingly interested in buying apartments in Subotica as well. The prices of apartments in that city have increased by about ten percent in the past year because of this.

Of the total number of apartments sold in Subotica this year, about 3 to 5 percent were bought by Russian citizens. First of all, they buy already existing, registered, two-room apartments.

"Two-room apartments of 50-60 square meters, although sometimes, if a family is larger, they also buy three-room apartments," explains Đuro Gavrić, owner of a real estate agency in Subotica.

The prices of apartments in Subotica have increased by about ten percent, and now instead of 900 they cost about a thousand euros per square meter. The arrival of Russian citizens also affected the rental prices, namely, as our interlocutor explains, they want to make sure that they have made the right choice before buying.

"Until they see what the situation will be, the geopolitical situation, in general in Europe but also here, will remain for two or three months." Because of this, the citizens of Subotica, the real estate owners, have increased the prices of renting out apartments, but it only lasts for a month or two, and then they return the prices to the old level," adds Gavrić.

Therefore, Russian citizens are not interested in apartments under construction, the price of which starts at 1,300 euros per square meter. As our interlocutor points out, they are bought by our citizens.

"Those buyers are people from Subotica, but also people who sold their properties in Belgrade, Novi Sad and other larger centers. Likewise, our people from Western European countries, who work there, also buy new buildings," says Gavrić.

These apartments are often intended for rent, and not only for Russian citizens. Subotica has become one big construction site, and foreign nationals, very often from Asia, often work on the construction of apartments.

In addition, there are our citizens from other parts of Serbia, who got a job in one of the factories that were opened in the past years in the city in the north of Vojvodina, writes rtv.rs.
