The Belgrade retail market has experienced significant development in the past 10 years, and a large number of retail outlets of various types have been built in the capital. The market is still expanding, consumption continues to grow at high rates, but in order to cope with the challenges facing traditional retail, it will be necessary to make a significant qualitative step forward. Although the domestic market is less affected than others, consolidation after the pandemic restrictions in the conditions of constant growth of e-commerce is still ongoing, and the user experience is returning to the center of attention. During the previous period, Ušće Shopping Center in New Belgrade established itself as the most visited and certainly the most successful retail facility in the city. In order to confirm this position, the company MPC Properties is preparing a reconstruction project, which will functionally enrich the offer and refresh the visual character of the building.

The key areas for the UŠĆE shopping center reconstruction project will be focused on comfort, bringing new and innovative formats, such as exhibition spaces and pop-up locations. The biggest transformation of the offer was announced in the Food and Beverages segment, with numerous new facilities and planned outdoor seating areas. The modified facade of the building should be especially emphasized, which will now enable a completely open and exterior-oriented ground floor. Until now, the completely closed facility will have a number of service outlets with gardens on the ground floor, which will give the plateau that surrounds the facility a new function. The emphasis is on significant integration and interaction with the environment, which is important for this location and facility qualitative improvement. The new concept will also create a completely new expression of the facade overlooking Branko's Bridge, with a transparent glass facade where restaurants with an attractive view of the city are planned, according to beobuild.rs.

In addition to numerous new facilities in the Food and Beverages segment, numerous opportunities for leisure and entertainment are planned, including a new children's zone on two levels and a future winter garden terrace with a large attractive skylight. The new architectural approach to the redesign of the UŠĆE Center with more bright, transparent surfaces and central art installations should transform the visitor experience, with better connection of floors and visibility of shops, as well as improved pedestrian communication in the interior. A multi-purpose space called "New Market Square" is also planned, which will bring opportunities for various types of events and promotions, from food fairs, concerts and theaters, to home decoration.

Until all the details about the estimated value and deadlines of the planned reconstruction are known, see the promo 3D views of the refreshed look of the shopping center in Ušće.
