The construction of new football stadiums in Zaječar, Loznica, and Leskovac is underway, and the Football Association of Serbia (FAS) confirmed that Belgrade, Pančevo, Zrenjanin, and Kragujevac will also get new stadiums. The FAS reminds that the construction of the National Stadium with a capacity of 55,000 seats should also start this year, reports ekapija.com.

“It is important to note that our country, thanks to the initiative and investments of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, will soon get three new stadiums—in Leskovac, Loznica and Zaječar—that meet strict UEFA standards. New stadiums will also be built in Pančevo, Belgrade, Zrenjanin, and Kragujevac. Also, the construction of the National Stadium with a capacity of 55,000 seats will definitely begin this year," states the FAS website.

It is added that the members of the FAS Executive Board are familiar with the current infrastructural situation in Serbia, the state of the stadium, and the conditions for licensing.

"In accordance with the provisions of the relevant regulations on the licensing of FAS clubs for competitions organized by UEFA, the Super League, and the First League, i.e., the fulfillment of infrastructure criteria, a tour of 44 stadiums in Serbia was carried out. For the first time, the clubs of the Serbian leagues (4 groups) are participating in the licensing process, as they have submitted requests for a license to compete in the First League for the 2023-2024 season," the FAS states.
