On April 14, the Government of the Republic of Serbia passed the Decree on Amendments to the Decree on Determining the Spatial Plan of the Special Purpose Area of the Belgrade Coast - Sava River Bank for the “Belgrade Waterfront” project. This document will be put into effect on April 23.

The spatial plan includes further development of this part of the city and construction of public service facilities, from kindergartens and schools, through health institutions, to cultural, sports and recreation facilities. Also, the Plan includes parts of the route of the two planned lines of the Belgrade Metro, as well as three metro stations - Sajam, Mostar and Savski trg.

Routes and stations on metro lines 1 and 2 were elaborated in detail through the preliminary design of the Belgrade metro for line 1 phase 1 Makiš - Karaburma, which was implemented within the General Regulation of Rail Systems in Belgrade with elements of detailed elaboration for phase I of the first line metro system.

It is added that when designing metro stations, space should be provided for stations for public bicycles and parking lots for micro-vehicles, but also sufficient widths of access to stations should be planned, in order to enable access for cyclists and users of micro-vehicles.

It is also necessary to adjust the width of pedestrian communications, plan the installation of bicycle rails on the handrails near the stairs, as well as elevators of optimal capacity, writes biznis.rs.

The Spatial Plan emphasizes that when defining the elements and rules of construction, it is necessary to adhere to the defined protection zones, as well as other elements related to the metro system in accordance with the Law on Metro and City Railways.

"The Law on the Metro and the City Railway, among other things, defines the infrastructure and protection zone of the metro system. The protective belt of the metro system is the area on both sides of the railway 25 meters wide, counting from the axis of the end track, ie the outer edge of the metro structure, below the route five meters wide, and above the underground metro structure from the ground. The protection zone includes the protection zone and the land area of the station areas, which include all facilities, installations and access roads, "the Plan explained.

The infrastructure belt of the metro system is a belt on both sides of the metro line five meters wide measured from the axis of the end track to overhead sections, ie a space four meters wide measured from the outer edge of the subway structure for underground sections.

It is also noted that in the process of implementing the planning document, drafting technical documentation and applying the rules of construction in the defined protection zone, it is necessary to cooperate with JKP Belgrade Metro and Train, which will precisely define the possibilities and limitations of both underground and and overhead construction in the zone of infrastructure and protection zone of the metro system in accordance with regulatory norms.

  • The route of the 1 metro line (Železnik-Mirijevo), with a total length of about 21.10 kilometers, runs along the corridor of Vojvode Mišić Boulevard, and after entering the plan, the route runs under the Gazela Bridge, by regulating Savska Street towards Republic Square.
  • The route of the 2 metro line (Zemun-Mirijevo) runs along the corridor of Nemanjina Street to Savski Square, after which it goes along the border of traffic regulation, then tunnel under the Sava River, through the area of block 18, where after entering the Sava Center it enters the corridor of Zoran Djindjic Boulevard.

The Spatial Plan also states that within the station zone there is a metro station facility with a minimum of two approaches (entrances / exits).

"If the need arises, during the further development of the metro system, the area of the station zone can be changed in accordance with the technological needs of the system, and according to the solutions from the technical documentation within public areas," the Plan states.

There are three metro stations in the area covered by the Spatial Plan - Savski trg, Mostar and Sajam. In the area of Savski trg, next to the building of the former railway station, a joint metro station Savski trg is planned. In this part, the metro route runs in a deep tunnel. The second metro station - Mostar, is located in the area of Gazela Park. Sajam station is located in the vicinity of block 30, just below the railway bridge that connects Belgrade Center and New Belgrade stations.

Outside the boundaries of the Spatial Plan, but in the immediate vicinity, the stations of line 2 - Sava Center and Block 18 are planned.

"Access should be achieved from the public sphere. It is possible to gain access from other areas in public use, and their exact position will be defined through technical documentation. Access to the metro station should be planned so as not to obstruct pedestrian flows and should be provided with stairs, escalators and elevators, as well as underpasses, if needed. The minimum width of the stairs is 1.40 meters ", it is described in detail in the Spatial Plan.

It is added that the access to the metro station must be in accordance with the Rulebook on technical standards of planning, design and construction of facilities that ensure unimpeded movement and access for people with disabilities, children and the elderly.
