Photo: ekapija.comThe Swiss Nestlé food company marked the completion of the first phase of constructing a new factory in the Belgrade Surčin suburb, where it would produce plant-based food. It will use locally grown soya and its purpose will be the production of Garden Gourmet portfolio based on plants. The planned production capacity of the factory is 12,000 tons per year, and the finished goods will be exported to France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain and Great Britain. New factory will be 18,440 square meters big, and it is located near the current Nestlé factory in Surčin, opened in 2012. The beginning of the production in this factory is planned for the last quarter of the current year, according to ekapija.com.
From the Nestlé company for the southern Adriatic region say that it will be the most modern factory, built in accordance with the eco-standards, and that will have new 330 workers, while the overall investment value is 67 million Swiss francs.
The aim of the Garden Gourmet portfolio is to completely use soy that is cultivated on the European soil. Factory will be using renewable energy from hydropower plants, it won’t produce municipal waste and, in the future, the water that comes out of the production process will be completely purified before returning to nature, and all waste will be recycled.
In 2012 Nestlé bought “Centroproizvod” factory, continued with the production of the “C” brand, and started with the production of the world famous products such as THOMY, MAGGI and Nestlé Professional, exporting to more than 40 countries worldwide. At this moment, the company Nestlé Serbia employs more than 550 people both in factory and in corporate headquarters of the firm.
