The foundation stone for the construction of the new Sports and Recreation Center Radnički in Belgrade was laid on Friday, on the occasion of the celebration of 103 years of work and existence of the oldest sports society in our country. The foundation stone was laid by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, together with athletes, reported eKapija.

Vučić said that due to the rich history of the Radnički Sports Society, the state allocated a large sum of money for the construction of a multifunctional hall, and proposed that it be named after the famous basketball coach Dušan Duda Ivković. Vučić said that Ivković was focused on the future of Radnički and wanted to leave something that would be a pride to all citizens of Serbia, to be his legacy.

The time capsule was placed in the foundation, together with Vučić, by Dušan Ivković's sons, Petar and Pavle, and judoka Aleksandar Kukolj.

The hall should be completed in two years.

"187 parking spaces will be built, as well as a training hall, martial arts hall, shooting range, and everything necessary. In two years we will open a new hall, this will be a magnificent facility for everyone's enjoyment. The project envisages the construction of a modern sports facility with a hall with a capacity of 1,025 spectators, including an administrative part and a number of accompanying commercial features," said Vučić.

The total gross built area of the modern sports facility will be 18,753 square meters. The multifunctional sports hall is designed to hold basketball, handball, and volleyball matches, as well as other events that do not necessarily have to be sports-related.
