The October Salon, the 59th in a row, will be held from October 20 to December 4, announced one of the organizers of the Belgrade Biennale, the Belgrade Cultural Center. The grand opening is scheduled for 9 p.m. and will take place in the new salon of Belgrade City Museum at Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra 30.

Entrance to all exhibition spaces is free, and entrance to the National Museum of Serbia is free on Sundays. All exhibition spaces on October 20 will be open from 6 p.m., and on the opening days of October 20, 21 and 22, the spaces will be open until 10 p.m.

"Based on the decision of the board of the October Salon, the role of artistic director of the 59th October Salon was assigned to the Cultural Center of Belgrade, i.e. to its assistant director for the KCB program, Zorana Đaković Minniti. "The program focus of the October Salon committee has focused on reviewing the heritage of this most significant manifestation in the field of fine arts in Serbia," the City of Belgrade announced.

Returning the opening date to the original October 20, the 59th October Salon will be opened in several exhibition spaces and will be followed by an intensive program during the first three days, but also during the entire duration of the exhibition, considering that after October 20, exhibition halls will be opened successively spaces on October 27, October 29, November 3 and November 24. About 50 artists and collectives, mainly from Serbia, but also from surrounding countries and abroad, who were included in the exhibition by invitation, will participate in a series of gallery, public and media spaces.

The various topics examined by the presented works emphasize thinking about possible spaces for a better common life. There are three work processes that were worked on in parallel with the preparations for the exhibition: the exhibition and program unit "Artist/artist in focus", work on the archives of the October Salon and the opening of space for collaboration, relevant to the exhibition of contemporary art.

The exhibition venues of the 59th October Salon are: Cultural Center of Belgrade, Pavilion on Cvetni Trg, Hall of the Museum of the City of Belgrade, "Svetozar Marković" University Library, Vojislav M. Jovanović Marambo Legacy, RTS Club, Art Hub Kula, Faculty of Dramatic Arts, National Museum in Belgrade, the Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, the Gallery of Belgrade City Library, as well as several public spaces.

The October Salon is a representative international manifestation in the field of visual arts, whose founder and patron is the City of Belgrade. Founded in 1960 as an annual review of significant achievements of Serbian artists, during its history the Salon changed its conception and forms of organization. The latest changes include an international character since 2004, at the initiative of the long-time organizer of the Cultural Center of Belgrade, and by the decision of the founder, while in 2014, by the decision of the City of Belgrade, the October Salon became a biennial event.

The aim of the event is to present the most significant new works and artistic dialogue of local and foreign authors in the field of visual arts.
