From January to July this year, our country recorded by far the highest growth in tourist traffic, 73% higher compared to 2019 levels among countries reporting on this parameter, showing that tourism promotion, open borders and the general recovery of the industry after the pandemic contributed are growing despite high inflation, it was stated on the website of the Ministry of Tourism, reports ekapija.com.
Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić welcomed the publication of the latest report of the World Tourism Organization and stated that such a conclusion was expected, taking into account the excellent results achieved so far.
"Despite the challenges, we welcome World Tourism Day with record results and exceptional successes." The number of tourist arrivals since the beginning of the year increased by 48.1% compared to the same period last year, while the foreign exchange inflow from tourism during the first six months increased by 57.9% compared to the same period in 2021. The World Tourism Organization has recognized this record growth, and it is actually a strong tailwind and a powerful incentive that encourages us to achieve even greater success," said Matić.
