What is culture anyway? Well, without getting too deep into this topic, culture is almost everything. From food, drink and habits of a people, to music, painting and literature. In this way, there is not much that is not some form of culture.

In other words, it's pretty hard to rank cities based on their cultural offerings, but that's exactly what the folks at luggage storage company Bounce managed to do. By adding up the number of museums and galleries, theaters, libraries and music halls per 100,000 people, and then combining that with the number of Google searches for anything related to culture, Bounce created a list of the most cultured cities on the Old Continent, reports City magazine.

At the top of this list is Venice, which, to be honest, probably isn't much of a surprise to most readers. Venice boasts 37.94 museums and galleries, 12.77 libraries and 10.45 music halls per 100,000 people, which is quite a lot. The capital of Italy's Veneto region has proportionately more museums, galleries, libraries and music halls than any other city in Europe.

Second on the list is Edinburgh, home to the medieval Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland, among others, while third is Amsterdam, which has a whopping 887,350 culture-related Google searches.

Based on the number of museums and galleries, music halls, theaters and libraries per 100,000 inhabitants, the following 10 cities are ranked as the most cultural in Europe:

1. Venice (Italy)

2. Edinburgh (Great Britain)

3. Amsterdam (Netherlands)

4. Florence (Italy)

5. Milan (Italy)

6. Paris (France)

7. Prague (Czech Republic)

8. Zurich (Switzerland)

9. Dublin (Ireland)

10. Rome (Italy)
