MORE THAN 100,000 TOURISTS WELCOMED THE NEW YEAR IN BELGRADE

The arrival of the new year 2023 was marked by high daily temperatures and full capacities in restaurants, cafes, hotels, and tourist centers in Serbia. Estimates are that there were about 10,000 guests in Zlatibor, 30,000 in Vrnjačka Banja, 20,000 in Kopaonik, and that between 100,000 and 150,000 tourists stayed in Belgrade.

With spectacular fireworks and a laser show program from the Kula Beograd, in a real festive atmosphere, Belgraders and foreign guests ushered in the new year 2023.

"According to unofficial estimates by TOS, between 100,000 and 150,000 tourists visited Belgrade, and according to rough estimates, around 50,000 guests came to visit relatives and friends. These are the citizens of Serbia. Belgrade has become a world destination on the market in the category of short city breaks," said Miodrag Popović, director of the Tourist Organization of Serbia, in an interview for RTS.

According to him, Belgrade has 128 hotels with 30,000 beds and many offers of private accommodation.

"Belgrade Waterfront becomes one of the must-see places and attractions, and New Year's Eve, the Kula Beograd and fireworks, become symbols of Belgrade. The essence is in the atmosphere because we are a Slavic people with a Mediterranean spirit. Belgrade has also had an Open Heart Street since 1969. The city is a major tourist destination, which ranks among the top ten in Europe," Popović pointed out.
