Jean-Marc Peillex, the mayor of the French city of Saint-Gervais, announced that all those who want to visit the Mont Blanc mountain will have to pay a deposit of 15,000 euros, which will cover the costs of possible rescue and burial.

As the reason for that, he pointed out that this famous mountain is becoming more and more dangerous. The danger increases because the high temperature causes landslides more often. Peillex told those who don't follow the rules to play Russian roulette.

According to him, the average cost of rescue is 10,000 euros, while the cost of burial is 5,000 euros. For him, it is unacceptable that taxpayers in France cover these costs.

He criticized those who visit this mountain without adequately preparing for it, that is, without following the rules. As an example, he highlighted a group of Romanians who were found on June 30 while wearing shorts and sneakers. Over the loudspeaker on the police helicopter, they were called to return, and they replied that they would return a day later - Mayor Peillex said.

Insufficient amounts of snow and extremely high temperatures destabilized the rocks and made movement difficult. The risk of avalanches has also increased. All this is attributed to climate change.

Mont Blanc has 11 peaks higher than 4,000 meters, located in France and Italy. They attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, reports ekapija.com.
