After numerous tests, experiments and test flights, brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright managed to On December 17, 1903, they made the first historic flight with their Wright Flyerthe first aircraft heavier than air, and flew 37 meters in 12 seconds.
The aircraft of the Wright brothers, which marks a historical milestone, is now in the National Air and Astronautical Museum in Washington, while one part of it ended up in space. Namely, when Neil Armstrong and his crew embarked on a mission to land on the moon in July 1969, the famous American astronaut took with him small pieces of fabric and wood from the Wright Flyer, as a sign of respect for his famous colleagues.
By marking significant historical dates – and the first airplane flight is certainly one of those – the Belgrade Tower, the new symbol of our capital, preserves the memory of great men who have indebted humanity with their works and inventions with innovative animations.
