The exhibition of the 45th Salon of Architecture—A Salon of Dialogue was opened on Tuesday at the Museum of Applied Arts (MPU) in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Association of Serbian Architectural Practices (ASAP).

The representative of the Ministry of Culture, Danijela Vanušić, said that since its inception in 1974, the Salon of Architecture has remained a recognizable name as a prestigious city manifestation that has gone through numerous ups and downs but has maintained its quality.

Recalling that the MPU has been building a bridge between tradition and modernity for years, Vanušić said that this year's theme deals with dialogue and refers to the more thoughtful roles of the architect and the city.

"Each architectural project that affects the fate of the city is a bond with its future duration," Vanušić said, according to Politika.

The executive director of ASAP, Igor Marsenić, pointed out that the MPU, by being open to non-institutional bodies, showed how modern cultural institutions should act, primarily as mediators of dialogue in society, in this case the architectural profession.

"It is important that we can freely discuss all topics that affect us. We recognized MPU as such an institution. All of us in ASAP believe that architectural life must return to institutions", said Marsenić.

The director of MPU Biljana Jotić pointed out that the exhibition brings together 61 selected works from the professional category and 24 from students, and that "in addition to the wide range of different experiences and practices of architectural design, there is also a wide generational spectrum".

Jotić said that the international jury is an extremely important part of the Salon. The jury consists of architectural experts Werner Sobek, Ljiljana Blagojević, Aleksandar Zeljić, director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Dubravka Djukanović, Marjana Radović, Marija Maruna and Ljubica Arsić.

The exhibition lasts until April 29, and in addition to the Grand Prix, the jury will award prizes and commendations by category, while the novelty of the 45th Salon of Architecture is the audience award, with the aim of involving the public, as well as recognition awarded by the Council for a project performed outside the categories.

Dejana Cvetković was responsible for the design of the visual identity of the exhibition, Turbina and Relja Petrović were responsible for the spatial settings of the exhibition.

The authors of the concept are members of Council Jotić, architects Relja Petrović, Predrag Milutinović, Danilo Dangubić and Milka Gnjato.
