17TH BELGRADE INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE WEEK – BINA 2022

17th edition of the Belgrade International Architecture Week – BINA 2022 will be held from May 26 to July 7.The event has a rich program – from presenting solutions to current competitions for the city of Belgrade, the European Union Award for Contemporary Architecture - "Miss van der Rohe", marking the 125th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Dobrović, to exhibitions of young talents, themed walks, workshops, discussions, lectures.

With an interactive approach, BINA brings closer to the public events from the architectural scene that affect the physiognomy and future of life and appearance of citiesm, according to biznisuregionu.com.

Opening is 26.05. with the exhibition "Awards and competitions 2021-2022" which will last until 12.06. with winning solutions from seven recent architectural competitions for the city of Belgrade, organized by the Association of Architects of Serbia (UAS) and the Association of Architects of Belgrade (DAB).

Among others, there will be works of competition for a part of the block between Kralja Milana, Svetozara Markovića, Nemanjina and Kralja Milutina streets; construction-expansion of the existing depot of the National Library of Serbia; the pavilion of the Museum of Contemporary Art; creative-innovative multifunctional center "Ložionica", Mostar loop; metro station line 1 (phase 1) of the Belgrade metro; new buildings of the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Applied Arts.

The exhibition "European Award for Contemporary Architecture 2022 / EU Mies Award" of the "Mis van der Roe" Foundation, whose curator is Ivan Blasi, will last from 16.06. Until July 7, the EU "Miss van der Roe" award is given for two years, and it recognizes the quality of architectural production in Europe, draws attention to the great contribution of European professionals, development of new ideas and construction technology.

All 532 nominated projects from 41 countries will be shown in digital format. 40 shortlisted projects and two awarded ones will be especially highlighted.

BINA is the co-organizer of the exhibition "Nikola Dobrović under the flags of modern movements" dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Dobrović. On that occasion, a large retrospective exhibition opens on May 24 in the SANU Gallery.

At the BINA exhibition "Bring your project", young authors are traditionally presented at the beginning of their careers, this time "Model Architects" from Novi Sad. This exhibition will be open on 02.06. in the BINA cabin (Mila Milunovića 1, Faculty of Fine Arts).

The exhibition "Piranesi Award", a review of recent architecture from the region, which in recent years includes a large number of the best student works, will be opened on June 23. in the Hall of the Faculty of Architecture (Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra 73 / II).

In cooperation with the partners of the EU Visegrad Fund project, the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade and the Association of Citizens "Block 37", a workshop "Joint Planning of Block 37" is being held, which aims to strengthen the link between residents and open public space.

A special segment is GOOD URBAN LIFE 2 - which developed after last year's successful round table in the Cultural Center of Belgrade, where participants of various professions and interests led a debate on what is a good urban life. This year, GOOD URBAN LIFE is taking to the streets, and with the partners with whom we started the discussion, as well as with the new ones who joined it, we plan to conduct interactive modules at several locations in Belgrade. Five topics were selected: health, care, food, play and the digital environment.

Students of the Belgrade Faculty of Architecture and the Vienna Technical University will give their contribution to the good urban life of Belgrade at a joint workshop.

Traditionally, BINA walks "National Library of Serbia / Expansion of the depot", "New Century Ložionice", "Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade / Expansion", evening walk Gardoš, walk "Urban Memory of Donji Dorćol", walk Terazije, and History of Belgrade fortresses, with reference to the unrealized project of the architect Nikola Dobrović ".

As part of the BINA OPEN HOUSE program, a program dedicated to the Mia Dorcol business facility will be organized, as well as guidance through the Adriatic-Danube Bank (former Jugobanka, then AIK Bank and now MK Foundation).

After Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Pancevo and Kragujevac, this year's BINA trip is dedicated to the city of Sabac, and will be realized under the name "Transformation of public spaces in Sabac in the period from 2015-2020" in cooperation with JAD.

Also, a series of lectures in the BINA seminar program will be dedicated to professionals in the area of the reconstructed BEKO building. Within the educational programs, a significant publication "Urban Architectures in Interwar Yugoslavia" by Tanja Konli and the magazine "Time of Architecture - Architecture and Urbanism in Valjevo 2010-2020" will be presented, and a student workshop "(re) CONSTRUCTION: Poster and Dobrović" will be held in cooperation with the Academy of Technical Vocational Studies Belgrade.
