The Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, announced that the New Belgrade-Surčin expressway will be opened on Friday, March 31. Vesić said that this road will enable a fast connection between Zemun and Surčin with the Miloš Veliki highway, and the Belgrade-Šid highway will also be relieved, reports gradjevinarstvo.rs.

According to him, in April, the first part of the Moravski Corridor will be put into traffic, from Pojate to Makrešan, that is, to Kruševac, the total length of which is 112 kilometers, which will be completed in the second half of 2025. It will connect the loop between Pojate and Preljina and enable Kruševac, Trstenik, and Vrnjačka Banja to meet on the highway.

The minister reminded that on June 1, the construction of the bypass around Belgrade to Bubanj Potok will be finished, so transit traffic will no longer go through the city center. He added that the design of the final 30 kilometers of the ring road from Bubanj Potok to Pančevo is to be done yet.

Vesić also stated that the Sremska Rača - Kuzmin road will be completed by the end of the year, as part of the Belgrade - Sarajevo highway.

He pointed out that the continuation of the highway Miloš Veliki from Pakovraće to Požega is under way and that this section should be completed by the end of the year, as well as the Požarevac - Golubac expressway. In Serbia, Vesić added, 530 kilometers of highways and expressways are currently being built, and another 900 kilometers are planned.

When asked whether the roads in Serbia are being built with quality, that is, whether there are enough workers to complete everything planned, Vesić said that in Serbia, a third of the construction workers are foreigners.

"There are no more foreign workers anywhere than in construction, and now we will speed up and facilitate the obtaining of work visas because we want many more foreigners to come and work because we need three times as many foreign workers," said Vesić.

He said that one of the reasons for the decline of construction in Serbia as an important economic sector was precisely the lack of manpower.
