The Italian-Montenegrin consortium Leitner-Novi Volvox began construction earlier this year on the Kotor-Lovćen cable car, a popular tourist attraction that has long been planned.

Information was recently published that by the end of January, all supporting columns will be installed on the route of the cable car, which starts from the locality of Dub in the territory of the municipality of Kotor, in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the Vrmac tunnel.

The route leads to the location of Kuk on the Lovćen mountain. The location of the Dub terminal is within Grbaljsko polje, 200 meters from the Budva-Tivat road, and 500 meters from Tivat airport. The Kuk terminal is located on the Kuk plateau on Lovćen Mountain, 1,348 meters above sea level. The height difference between the starting and final stations will be 1,316 meters. The cable car will be about 3,900 meters long.

The projected capacity is 1,200 passengers per hour, and the expected number of passengers during the first year of its operation will be 400,000 people. The cable car will be served by 40 gondolas. The travel time from Dub station to Kuk station will be less than 11 minutes. All the equipment for the cable car will be produced by the renowned company Leitner, which was founded in 1888 and built its first cable car back in 1908.

The Montenegrin prime minister with a technical mandate, Dritan Abazović, posted on Twitter a video of the work on the construction of the Kotor-Lovćen cable car.
"Look at how the works are progressing on the construction of the Kotor-Lovćen cable car, a project that will change the face of Montenegro's tourist offer," Abazović stated in the description.
