Photo: Printscreen engoplanet.comQatar is preparing for the World Cup, which will be held at the end of 2022, which, among other things, implies the country's green agenda, which has taken the first place in terms of importance in many infrastructural developments. Among the many initiatives undertaken, the installation of smart solar street lights stands out for its importance to sustainable development.
Thus, the World Cup in Qatar will be illuminated by unique smart solar street lights, manufactured by EnGoPlanet, a Serbian company based in the USA, which has installed 350 solar lights at several locations in Doha. The public lighting poles, which run on sustainable and clean solar energy, are made in a factory in India, which opened three months ago, and have been installed in places around the world, such as Nevada, Texas, as well as Antigua and Barbuda. The installed solar street light model is named EnGo Leaf, which previously won the prestigious A' Design award in street furniture design.
Petar Mirović is the director and founder of EnGo Planet, which focuses on solar street lights and smart solar furniture, such as solar-powered benches and bus shelters. In an interview for Biznis u regionu, he spoke about the company that has been developing in the US-Serbia relationship since the beginning: the sales division is in America, in Houston, the state of Texas, and production and development are in Serbia.

"It has always been my wish, as the founder of the company, to try to export something other than raspberries, socks, and apples from Serbia. I know we have the capacity to make a high quality product that will have both hardware and software and be able to sell well. Our solar poles are not cheap, but they are in demand and have their own customers," says Petar Mirović.
In 2012, as a resident of New York, due to Hurricane Sandy, he lived in a part of the city without electricity for ten days. That's when the idea of a startup was born: to make smart street lights and chargers for gadgets that will run on clean, free, solar energy, available all around us, unused to the greatest extent. He focused exclusively on innovative solar energy solutions whose operation is independent of the conventional electrical grid, and managed to create solar lamps that contribute to the reduction of harmful CO2 emissions, created through the process of traditional street lamp power supply.

"Clean and free energy is all around us." Urban cities need to build smart infrastructure that will be able to collect all that energy. A significant number of people in many parts of the world still live in the "dark" because they are deprived of electricity. Such solutions can solve or be an alternative," says Mirović.
Therefore, EnGo Planet will soon open an office in the state of Ghana, in the capital Accra, in order to be more efficient in the African market, which is in line with the company's ultimate goal, which is to export worldwide.
